The Indiana Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) and the Indiana School Public Relations Association (INDSPRA) have partnered to create a short video designed to help families, staff, and community members better understand school finance in Indiana.

Few events bring a community together quite like the start of a new school year. School buses return to familiar routes, athletic fields come alive, classrooms open their doors, and families once again place their trust in the educators who will help guide their children through another year of growth and discovery. There is a special sense of optimism that comes with fresh starts, new opportunities, and the promise of a great year ahead.

Public schools and our educators deserve more recognition throughout the school year than a single week can provide. Strong public schools are the foundation of a thriving community.

Much of the most important work in education happens in moments that never appear on a state report card.

FWCS implemented a phone-free school policy at our middle and high schools two years ago. We didn't wait for a mandate because the evidence was right in front of us in classrooms where teachers could finally teach without competing with a screen and in hallways where student conflicts tied to social media dropped noticeably.

As a teacher, I can explain how to balance a chemical equation or calculate the speed of a satellite in orbit, but school finance is far less straightforward.
